Laura and I and a Ferris Wheel
Laura had an emergency at work that morning,
but first we–she and her husband and I–
took a spin on a giant Ferris wheel,
once known as a “pleasure wheel,”
but today a playdate wheel.
We went up, up, up…
but at the top, just before the descent,
my car flipped upside down,
and I slipped out until my feet caught.
Be still, I told myself.
I noted the netting that surrounded us
and relaxed into the hanging.
Then the car righted itself,
and the wheel turned into a coaster that sped
down a steep hill to its final stop.
Laura jumped off, tucked a squirrel under her arm,
and ran to work.
In the stillness (and the silliness),
Sandy

And linking with Laura
Oh, my gosh! I am laughing so hard! A squirrel? And, just so you know, Jeff would never get on a Ferris Wheel! I wonder what it means? I’m putting on my dream analysis hat…
If you figure it out, let me know. And, just so you know, I would never get on a roller coaster or anything that hangs me upside down. I got stuck upside down on a “salt-and-pepper-shaker” when I was a teen and nearly fell out… 😀
What a dream! Now I can see me tucking a squirrel under my arm since one of the main characters in my book series is Racer, True Squirrel of the Old Ones, but I’ve yet to dream it. Fascinating, Sandy!
Blessings!
Beautiful photos and so much more beautiful words. Weird a little. But that’s how dreams are, aren’t they? 🙂
