Sometimes I write book reviews. I’m never paid for them. They may be about books I’ve bought or received as a gift. Sometimes an author or publisher sends me a free book with no strings attached–no requirement or expectation to write a good review. My opinions are my own. If I don’t like a book at all, though, chances are I won’t write about it.
The official disclaimer goes something like this:
I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
