Today I’m reciting the third stanza of “The Stolen Child” by W.B. Yeats in response to Tweetspeak Poetry’s dare for National Poetry Month. Are you memorizing along with us? Leave a comment below and a link if you are reciting it in some form.
Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star,
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.

On my word! I laughed so hard my husband rushed into the kitchen to find out what was going on. Very well done. Thank you for the humor. Laughter is a great thing.

LOL. Did I mention that it could take my husband days or weeks to realize I’ve done anything to my hair? We’ve had dinner, gone for a walk, watched a little baseball. He’s gone to bed. Not a word.
Michelle Ortega says
Well, I LOVE this cut and color…and definitely NO to Botox LOL!
A few wispy bangs, perhaps, but with this length I don’t think you need them.
You are precious, I am smiling, and am motivated for my own Stanza 3!
Sandra Heska King says
This has been so much fun. I loved partnering with you.
Sandra Heska King says
And thanks. In the past when I’ve had this color, I think it lightened itself up, so I hope this one sticks.
L.L. Barkat says
I absolutely couldn’t stop laughing. So funny. First, when you “forgot” why you were outside, and then the bangs thing was hysterical.
And now? I’m laughing again because of the husband reactions/lack of reactions with Sharon’s and yours.
A very amusing Thursday. Thank you. 🙂
Sandra Heska King says
So, seriously, I really forgot for a minute why I was there–Stolen Child and slumbering trout or cups and marmalade with Prufrock.
And I got up with D this morning. Made a lunch for him. Talked together a few moments. He still hasn’t noticed, and there’s nobody around to point it out to him.
Vivvy Anne says
It was so funny. The moments were really memorable and I can’t really get rid them from my memory. Please give me some space to take a breath from my unstoppable laughing. Good job, Sandra. All I can say is “humor has it”.
