We said goodbye this morning
Hugged the grands
Waved our waves
Packed the car
Caged the cat.
The daughter who was done
with her goodbyes
came back.
Later said God knew she needed
time alone–with us, with the house
she grew up in.
There were tears
and more hugs
and reminiscing
and more tears
and a temporary imprisonment
in the date-list closet.
Then it was time to go.
No turning back.
In This Goodbye
In this beginning
is my end.
In this coming
is my going.
In this going
is my coming.
In this hello
is my goodbye.
In this goodbye
is my hello.
And in this end
is my beginning.
Martha Orlando says
No turning back . . .
But the memories will follow and grace you forever.
Blessings, Sandy~
Sandra Heska King says
No turning back. Facing forward. Yes. Hugs to you, Martha.
