Playing with Haiku
Waves flaunt their muscles
Sea suds quiver like jello
God washes my feet.
***
First gather the eggs
Scramble them in a glass bowl
See what hatches.
***
Do not be afraid
Deep in the dung and the dark
The hour to praise.
***
Footprints in the sand
Buried by high-rising care
Beauty carries you.
***
We walk in darkness
Dance by the light of the moon
Turtles are nesting.
***
Tried to go alone
Sucked under by the current
Disobeyed the flags
***
Fragrance of green grass.
Stopping to smell the flowers
Fall in Florida
I’ve been taking another workshop with Megan Willome through Tweetspeak Poetry called “The Joyful Partnership of & Memoir. This is a smattering of haiku verses I shared in class. Some read them as a one poem with haiku’d verses with a beginning and an end, though I was only slapping single poems together. What do you think?
Martha Orlando says
Love the haikus, Sandra! You are so gifted!
Sandra Heska King says
You make me smile, Martha. Thank you. 🙂
