Today I’m
lying awake
helping the morning,
a thousand mornings.
I’m
crossing the waters
into
rhythms of rest
and
the joy of poetry,
poetry at work
in me.
I’m
discovering hope.
even
if nobody speaks of remarkable things,
and I’m
finding livelihood
in this
adventure of ascent
along
the broken way.
A Maze Me.
A wee bit of (bad) spine poetry from a handful of the little box of books that traveled with us.
Dea Moore says
I have four of those books in a stack in my office. Megan’s, Shelly’s, Mary’s and Luci’s. I told Megan she has changed my life with hers. I’ve told her more than once. I want to tell her again but I don’t want to sound a like a creeper. I knew Shelly’s story before I read it and it was the strangest feeling–in a good way–to read a book so familiar. Mary’s mornings went with me to the beach a couple of years ago and has since stayed on the side table by my office chair. Dog Songs is in the living room. Luci’s adventures went to the beach with me the year before that—Breath for Bones was in the Kindle on the last beach trip in September. I’ve been following you down to Florida from a distance and I’m glad you wrote some (bad) spine poetry and shared the journey. I’m guessing in some ways it’s not over. Bless you, friend.

I’m so glad to have you on this journey, Dea. I’ve got several of Luci’s books, and Adventure of Ascent is a close companion these days. I’m also glad for a reprieve before the househunting and before finding new routines to catch up on some of these, to re-read some of these, and to finally put down some words. Love to you.
