Today there were cotton fields
in red clay off the beaten track,
all the M&M’s you could eat,
and a sweet speckled tile,
handcrafted for home.
Orange or grapefruit–
take your pick
take both.
There was a leak in a tire
and a sister-in-law’s threat to report
the owner to the Handyman’s Association
for honorary membership withdrawal
due to misguided use of nails
in a sidewall.
Home is so far away
and the sunshine state is very dark.
But close your eyes, she says.
You’re still in the light.
Welcome home.
Arrived.
