Still Saturday: Murmurs

June 5, 2015 By Sandra Heska King

ORIOLE - POETRY

i find myself thirsty

for plain sounds that whisper,

glory.

sure words resonate

where i can hear, once again,

God moving

through broken lines

that murmur with tenderness. but

at the heart of poetry,

silences.

~Laure Krueger as quoted by L.L. Barkat in God in the Yard

Sandra Heska King - Still Saturday

Welcome to the Still Saturday Community where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and reflect on the depth of sparse words. We’d love for you to join us. Grab the button and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to be still together, to gaze long and drink deep.

I can only just begin to imagine the patience (stillness) that must have been required to get those eloquent bird photos. Thank you for the time and energy that you invest in this community every week. Blessings to you and your family. (Trusting that all is well with their accommodations . . .)

      June 7, 2015 at 5:46 pm

Thanks so much, Michele. As far as accommodations–it’s challenging for all of us. It’s all good, though. 🙂 (P.S. Don’t stop praying, K?)

When the wind blows down my driveway, breezing around the corner of my house – He is in it! When the baby bird chirps in its nest in the burning bush nestled up to a porch pillar – He is there! Oh, yes, Sandra! He is in my yard – in such unexpected ways!

This morning at 5:45, it was transparent, and then the birthing process began. It takes longer than I thought. “Push. Push.” I kept repeating. The struggle for change and transformation is real and hard fought. But oh the beauty if you are patient and persevere.

We had to leave at noon. I suppose by now this sweet thing has emerged with wings all wet and crumpled. It will hang there to dry, its wings will expand, and it will fly away leaving an empty tomb. Maybe it will return to lay an egg on the milkweed. The egg will hatch a caterpillar that will gobble its host and then leave to zip itself up on this chair. Maybe I’ll even catch its first flight. #monarchwatch

My friend @shellymillerwriter has some things to say about that in her new book Searching for Certainty: Finding God in the Disruptions of Life. She wrote it pre-pandemic and before her own personal life disruption that has led to a prognosis that may or may not be part of God’s plan. So she is currently living in a bit of uncertainty, too.
