But it is hard to hear that inner voice
unless I allow myself time and quiet
to center down, to focus in.
I can find silence indoors,
but it seems static.
Breathing in the dynamic stillness
as the whole creation pauses before God,
the psalmist also sensed that,
“The heavens declare the glory of God . . . “
~Luci Shaw, from her journal as transcribed in Horizons: Exploring Creation
In the stillness,
Sandy
Welcome to the Still Saturday Community where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and reflect on the depth of sparse words. We’d love for you to join us. Grab the button and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to be still together, to gaze long and drink deep.
Sandy! I had never heard of Luci Shaw’s book that you quoted from! What a gift to know that there’s another book, and with Timothy Botts’s illustrations! This is good news.
It’s actually out of print, I think. But you can get it from third-party sellers on Amazon. It’s beautiful!
What a beautiful way to begin a Saturday morning. Thank you for hosting and blessings to you,
Patti
I’m so glad these words breathed into your morning, Patricia. I hope your week is going well.
The heavens do, indeed, declare the glory of God! Thanks for the reminder to step outside today and soak it all in.
May He continue to fill your cup to overflowing!
So did you step outside, Heather? What did you see? 🙂
May our stillness always be dynamic — feeling His Spirit move across our hearts, stirring us to love Him more. Thanks as always for the inspiring post and photos and for hosting. Many blessings, dear lady.
Dynamic stillness. Those two words together are worth pondering, yes? Love to you, Laurie.
“…the texture of the day…” what a beautiful thought for me, a weaver and one being woven. Praise the Lord for His love and provision each day.
Weaver and woven… yes, Linda. (I loved how the cattails and water ripples brought texture to these photos.)
