March
My kitchen’s hemmed by the sun.
Morning and evening
the angles of light
reveal every speck,
expose every flaw,
magnify my shortcomings.
March.

It’s the time of year when we Michiganders go from sinking knee-deep in snow, to sliding to our knees on ice, to squishing to our knees in mud–all in about the span of a week.
It’s also the time of year the morning and afternoon sun streams in through both sides of my kitchen. I love the view… looking inside out. But outside in… not so much.
It’s time for spring cleaning–inside and out.
What do you like best–or least–about the month of March?
In the stillness,
Sandy

Best about March? It begins with my birthday. Worst? I’ve written about that in a blog which will post this coming Friday. http://marthaorlando.blogspot.com. Blessings, Sandy!

I’m anxious to see if that’s a one-time or recurring March thing, Martha. 😉

I’m with you on the bad points of March. Michigan and Maine are similar in MUDMUDMUD! What I love about March is hope. No matter how much it snows, it can’t last; no matter how bogged down I am in homeschooling, April vacation is coming and summer can’t be far away. This helps me to look beyond the external spring cleaning that (sadly) is never as thorough as it should be, and to trust God for the “flaws” and “shortcomings.”
I really liked your March poem.

Hope. Yes. And the reminder that winter is never forever.
And neither my external or internal spring cleaning is ever as thorough as it “should” be… so yes, I’m trusting God for those flaws.
