Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us. We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of the world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love.
We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side.
We thank you for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us.
We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.
Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of his Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience by which he overcame temptation; for his dying, through which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom.
Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know him and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things.
Amen.
~ “A General Thanksgiving,” The Book of Common Prayer
Still Saturday,
Sandy
Welcome to the Still Saturday Community where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and reflect on the depth of sparse words. We’d love for you to join us. Grab the button and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to be still together, to gaze long and drink deep.
“We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.” AMEN. Praying you had a blessed Thanksgiving.
That line snagged me, too, Barbie. And we are with family for the holiday, so it’s all good. 🙂 I hope you had some moments to remember.
Thanking Him for the blessing of family of origin family members even tho relationships are strained. Love covers all. Thanks for the link up, Sandy. And I love the crane!! Hope your Thanksgiving weekend has been lovely! Blessings…
So many treasures in The Book of Common Prayer including that line about our disappointments and failures leading us to depend on him alone. So true and I’m somehow thankful for that. Thank you for the beautiful prayer that reminds me of this truth…
Beautiful prayer, Sandra, thank you for sharing. I’m thankful for you and this peaceful, restful place you have created. Blessings.
Sandra, I so look forward to your Still Saturday thoughts and today was as beautiful and heart touching a post simply in its timing. I have been focused on thanking God for all things in all circumstances, every moment of my days, for some time and this prayer is one I shall journal and remember. Thank you! God bless!
Such beauty. You’ve been on my heart this week, dear one–I know it’s a time of remembrance.
