Scripture Sunday: Light of the World

August 31, 2014 By Sandra Heska King

light

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said,

“I am the light of the world.

Whoever follows me

will never walk in darkness,

but will have the light of life.”

~John 8:12 (NIV)

light - you

“You are the light of the world.

A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.

Instead they put it on its stand,

and it gives light to everyone in the house.

~Matthew 5:14-15 (NIV)

light - lantern

This is beautiful Sandra. Your photographs add so much to the post and are really lovely. I’m overcome with shame at the moment for not realising how precious people’s artwork is. I just want to say that yours is quite special.

YES! He IS the Light. And I so count on Him, moment-by-moment. I often feel that I don’t fit into this world very well, so paying attention to His Lightness is all I can do. AND, as usual, ya dun good photos with the Word. Thanks much, Sandy.

    • Sandra Heska King says

      September 10, 2014 at 2:22 pm

This world is not our home, so it’s no wonder so many don’t feel they fit here so well. Paying attention to His Lightness is the best thing we can do. 🙂

Wonderful photos, Sandra! This post has jogged a memory of camping: pumping, pressurizing the lantern, striking the match, hanging the lantern high on a tent pole to bring light to a dark tent. You don’t realize how precious any kind of light is until you’re in an electricity-free environment.

    • Sandra Heska King says

      September 10, 2014 at 2:28 pm

Oh, how I miss camping. We’d usually set our lantern on the picnic table and play Scrabble. I’m hoping we don’t experience any more electricity-free days this winter like we did last Christmas. 🙂

I did repot it a few months back just cuz I thought it might need it. A few days ago I noticed it was sprouting a sprout. I grew this from a pineapple top. We repotted it again over the weekend. Still no fruit, though. Our neighbor has a baby growing on a small plant, though. What’s up with that?

(Also, I do not have a green thumb. Currently the only things still living are this, an avocado, and a little Boston fern.)
