Just look at that!
“Look at what?”
The sky.
My husband looked up and asked again. “What about it?”
Can’t you see? The stars. Look at the stars.
“Oh, yeah. I’m cold.” And he went into the house, leaving me out there alone. Or not.
Granted, D’d been checking things off his to-do/note list, a yellow index card he always carries in his shirt pocket, all day and he was tired, but how on this earth could he not see? The sky looked like a glass factory had exploded and spewed the shatterings across its expanse. I stood out there in the backyard for the longest time, lost in the marvel of the darkness and its lights, listening to the peepers, trying to imagine the earth spinning through space and wondering at how we don’t just hurtle off into the galaxies. I felt so small and thought about David’s words.
I’m rambling today over at Jumping Tandem: The Retreat’s blog. Meet me there?
In the stillness,
Sandy
