“Conscientiously ‘wasting’ time with God enables me to speak and act from greater strength, to forgive rather than nurse the latest bruise to my wounded ego, to be capable of magnanimity during the petty moments of life. It empowers me to lose myself, at least temporarily, against a greater background than the tableau of my fears and insecurities, to merely be still and know that God is God. ~Brennan Manning in Abba’s Child
Still,
Sandy
Welcome to Still Saturday where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and words. We’d love for you to join us. Get the details on the left, grab your favorite button, and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to gaze long and drink deep.
Why is it so hard, to simply be. still.?
At least it is hard for me. Thank you, Sandy, for making a place where it’s easier. And for hosting all of us.
I so desperately need this.
magnanimous during a petty moment…. what a juxtaposition of ideas!
Is that cute little you hugging the tree? You are so precious, whether you’re the tree hugger or the camera-lens hugger.
Yep, it’s me. 🙂
Have a beautiful weekend, my sweet friend. xox
Taking a deep breath and hoping for some quiet moments of stillness with Him this weekend. I feel the ache for it–for more of Him, for quiet. Thanks for this beauty, Sandy. Grace and peace to you this weekend. XO
Breathing with you, friend. I ache for more, too.
I waste time on so many foolish things Sandy. I love this gentle reminder of what is of eternal value.
I’m finally back! I’ve been taking a lot of time away, trying to find the balance I so need in my life.
Have a blessed weekend gentle friend.
So glad you’re back, my friend. I hope you’ve found a bit of balance.
It is an affront to God to dismiss His presence and to become entangled with the concerns of our daily living. Just taking time to “be still” and connect with the Living God can make a profound difference in our attitude and our inward being. We were made in God’s image and need to reflect this image due to our time spent with our Heavenly Father. Great thoughts and the photos aptly depict the content of your text.
You are so right, Sandra. You can’t waste time with God. He redeems everything. Thank you for the reminder (and the stillness).
So glad you choose to waste a little time here, Jason. 🙂
It’s wonderful to “waste” time with God. His Word never returns empty.
Spending time with Him is the best investment of time we could possibly make! Thanks for hosting & God bless.
So very true! Time with Him, is time well spent.
Blessings!

Amen, Geneva.
