“Just hold on and suck in.”
Scarlett grips the bedpost while Mammy yanks on the corset and cinches Scarlett’s waist down to 18-1/2 inches.
Laces her up right tight.
Molds her right to form.
Bones bear down to bear her in.
I think about bone that once bore down on another’s side, fragments that raked across a bare back.
Over and over until a scarlet river flowed.
He bore the bones to bear us up.
Corsets were once called “stays,” I think.
And I think about the staying power of scarlet.
About the red cord that keeps us tied to His side.
A spiritual stay of sorts.
And I suck in and hold on.
With Lisa Jo and the Five Minute Friday community on the word prompt stay.
Doing the same over here.
Hold on, friend. Hold on tight!
Wow. Amazing writing Sandra! Thank you for those poetic images… and a reminder of the red cord of scarlet.
Thank you for coming by, Kristen. If we have eyes, we can see that cord everywhere, right?
had to read it several times. wow
I joined into this friday challenge today for the first time.
Yay! On my way.
Oh, the RED CORD!! What keps us tied to HIM! Beautiful imagery…

Thank you, Lisa. It’s so nice to see you here.
You have outdone yourself with this one.

And aren’t we done in and done for if we don’t hold on? Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.
Breathtaking! That scarlet flowing down? The young ministered mentioned it just like this, today.
And of course, you know how the staying resonates here.
Lovely, just lovely!
Awesome! Amazing! Love!
Thank God for you being the one to offer me encouragement on my blog. This led me to you!
I love it.
