I’m feeling terrible—I couldn’t feel worse!
Get me on my feet again. You promised, remember?
When I told my story, you responded;
train me well in your deep wisdom.
Help me understand these things inside and out
so I can ponder your miracle-wonders.
My sad life’s dilapidated, a falling-down barn;
build me up again by your Word.
Barricade the road that goes Nowhere;
grace me with your clear revelation.
I choose the true road to Somewhere,
I post your road signs at every curve and corner.
I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me;
God, don’t let me down!
I’ll run the course you lay out for me
if you’ll just show me how.
~Psalm 119:29-32 (Message)

I just came back from a drive to the church. All along the way, there were runners. They are in training – getting ready to run the Lincoln Marathon in May. I’ve been watching them all season and they are looking lean, and strong, and ready to conquer those 26.2 miles in just a few weeks.
So I read this post and get goosebumps because I want to run, too. I want to be trained well in his wisdom, and run the course he has chosen for me.
Yes, Sandy, we can allow our bodies and our faith to run down and become dilapidated. Only by refreshing ourselves at His eternal springs springs, His Word, can we be rebuilt and renewed. Blessings to you this Sunday, all week and all year.
Thank you for sharing this lovely pictures and scripture! Blessings to you!
Oh Sandy, this is the cry of my heart – show me the way Lord. I sometimes worry that He has clearly marked the path, and I have been looking the other way. But He assures us that He will lead and guide – in spite of ourselves.
The words, the pictures – perfect for me today.
Thank you for the reminder.
I love how the scripture can speak to each mood we experience.
Oh, Amen! The Message version makes familiar verses come alive in new ways, and perfect photos.
You’re so good at choosing the scriptures and photos to combine beautifully.
What’s funny? I’m not a Message person, mostly b/c I’ve read so many versions that now I sometimes wonder how to find the scripture when a phrase floats through my head. That’s the main/only reason I’ve avoided reading it. If I was a young ‘un, it’d be a different choice for me, of course. SO, when I began reading this, I thought you had written a lovely poem, wonderful thinking. Disappointed to discover it was only the Psalmist and not you. ;-).
Blessings….
How perfect is that, Sandra!!! And your photos are the perfect illustratioin of the message version of that verse. Thank you for this. xox
What an interesting translation of the Psalm, but a perfect fit with the falling down barn shot. Thank you for sharing this!
Great match of scripture and photos. I’ve been “shooting” old sheds, too.
Yes, this. How I want to run and be trained by the Lord for His purposes! Beautiful!! Thank you for these words, I needed them!
I love the book of Psalms. There are so many verses that truly helped me during my dark days.
A lovely message to keep this and everyday!
What a blessing to wake up and welcome another day! Thank you Heavenly Father!
you make God alive for me. thank you dear sandra.
Oh if he shows us how we must be willing to follow. right?
I really like this translation. It makes the psalm more psalm-y.
sweet and that’s what it sometimes feels like… great write
There is so much heart and soul and pain in this scripture! I love how God’s love…and the general human condition…are so constant throughout history!
