Stunned to find a rose-breasted grosbeak at the feeder this week. I never saw one before.
It’s song is “like that of the robin, only as sung by an opera singer, being mellower and more sweetly melodic.”
The missus could use a clothing allowance.
What birds have stunned you lately?
Beauty is an ecstasy; it is as simple as hunger. There is really nothing to be said about it. It is like the perfume of a rose: you can smell it and that is all.

I saw a bluebird yesterday which is very rare here … made my heart happy!

The bluebird of happiness! 😀
We saw a couple in the field near Dennis’ office a couple months ago. And one on the birdbath before I could get the camera. I didn’t realize they were around here in the winter. I’d never seen one before. We’ve been meaning to get a house.

There are pigeons outside the office where I work. They are very interesting to observe. Kind of an awkward bird, yet there is something about them that is very graceful, and their chirping very calming.

Years ago I took a field trip with our church to tour a senior living center. My friend and I had a visit from a couple pigeons. Direct hit on our heads! 🙂

Oooh, lovely. I did a couple of bird reflections with photos this week – the most recent one on some jays in our yard who do an interesting little dance (of sorts) with my husband, the bird-whisperer. Love me those winged creatures, that’s for sure.
The one on the jays is just before the post noted below. And the other one was a too-long photo essay for Faith Barista. After I read your gorgeous, poetic post, I almost pulled mine but couldn’t figure out if that’s even possible.
Thanks for the lovely photos once again.

And thanks for the tips on labeling my pictures – now if I could only figure out how to do it in batches – like creating a ‘logo’ of sorts to just slap on each one.
