I planned to write my “sticky” post today, based on chapter 6 of Made to Stick.
But I’ve had a long and busy day. It’s now very late, and I’m very tired. So I’ll think about that tomorrow.
But I didn’t want to leave you without something.
This morning I was moving quickly around the kitchen–okay, rushing–so I could get some rush-free time outside before leaving to teach Bible study. I popped an English muffin in the toaster and poured my tea. When I turned around from the sink, King Kobe was frozen on the kitchen table as he stared out the window.
And there, just across the driveway were two little does looking right back at me.
I slowly reached for the camera and managed to snap several pictures–quick, quick, quick–and they all came out blurred, some way worse than others. But here are a couple anyway. Deer are so common in this place, but I’m always thrilled to see them.
I burned my muffin. I think she smelled it. I ate it anyway.
Alex Marestaing says
Okay, we hardly have any wildlife around here, so that would be a pretty amazing sight. Enjoy the rest of the week.
Sandra says
Hi, Alex. We hadn’t lived here long when I glanced out the window to see a red fox trotting across the yard in the same place. Amazing.
Tami Heim says

I will request our family of deer make a special appearance in honor of your visit! XXOO

Sometimes less is more. That is one of my favorite verses.

Cassandra Frear says
We saw a deer on the trail the other day. It’s always a fresh thing.
When we lived in the Poconos, a doe bedded her two twin fawns in the front yard, just 20 feet from the porch. For two summers in a row. We were very careful and quiet when we went out to sit and watch them. Adorable!
Sandra says
Oh, how sweet. But–I’m not sure what I would do if I looked up to see a bear looking back at me. 😉
L.L. Barkat says
I love the posture in the second one. There’s longing in it.
Sandra says
I sensed that, too. I love that word.
Lynn Mosher says
Ooo…I love that second one also. He looks like he could be singing praises to God!
Sandra says
What a lovely thought!
in the hush of the moon says
oh, breathtaking… we have a deer that visits us also. i think it secretly longs to be part of our family. 🙂
Sandra says
Oh, that’s too cute. 😉
