Gah-mah’s Arms

August 2, 2010 By Sandra Heska King

I did it! With Peter Pollock’s help, I packed up all my stuff and moved it to my new home. Here. In WordPress Land. Yep. Everything from Beholding God and The Write Pursuit is here. As if I’ve always been here.

Why did I do it?

  • Simplicity: For me. For you. Everything in one place.
  • Time: One blog to maintain. More time for WIPs.
  • Transition: Easier to convert to “real” website when I’m a “real” author.

Besides being pushed or pulled into this new discomfort zone.

I still have some sprucing up to do, but I’m ready for company. Hope you’ll hang out a while, update your links, and come back often.

I’m excited.

And letting go. Depending on God to do His thing in His way.

And my first post is a guest post. For Tammy Patrick over at Nurse’s Notes as I reflect on babies, vulnerability, dependence, and letting go. Join me there.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare

and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers

and under his wings you will find refuge;

his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalm 91:1-4 (NIV)

Sandra, I love your new home. I know moving is hard, but as you said, it will be easier to maintain. I will be going over to Nurses Notes to read your post and then I will update my site list.

You have “found your refuge under His wing”.

Thanks so much, Cynthia. I thought at first I might be biting off more than I could chew, but now I am so, so glad! I just come over here sometimes just to look around. 😉

Kathy and Robin: I love looking writerly. Now if I can just BE writerly. 🙂

Love this, kiddo! You did a terrific job! How did you get Google Friend-Connect to show up over here–and Networked Blogs? I fussed for hours trying to do it and couldn’t. (And if you can’t tell, I’m pouting about it.)

Sandrs, you did an awesome job with the sidebar widgets and everything, I was VERY impressed.

So… on a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is “I could do it with my eyes shut” and 1 is “Never, Never again, that was horrendous” how easy was the move?

Honestly, Peter, I don’t think–no, I know–I couldn’t have done it without you! So, I love my new digs. And I would give it a 1, but ONLY if you were in the driver’s seat.

For those who don’t know, Peter helps set up new sites for a VERY, VERY reasonable price. (He secured my domain name and is hosting this site.) But he goes way above and beyond to make it a comfortable experience. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Thanks, Peter. I’m sure I’ll need more help. 😉

Squeaky clean? Oh, I like that! I was sort of not wanting to clutter it by posting–but then Peter moved all my posts. 🙂 I’m not sure I’m liking the pink in my replies, though. Might need to see if I can change that color.
