Still Saturday: Here I Am, Father

July 13, 2012 By Sandra Heska King

A still morning

Because I am loved and I love, I don’t have to worry about my response or lack of it. I don’t have to struggle with my desire to understand. I don’t have to wrestle with my feeling of unworthiness. All I have to do is be still, stay close and let you love me into wholeness.

Father, sometimes it’s the hardest thing in the world just to be still, stay close and let you love me. But because I am loved and I love, I try.

Here I am, Father. Still, for once. Closer than I’ve ever been. Waiting. Accepting. Wanting. Love me, Father. ~Brennan Manning in Souvenirs of Solitude

Remember this–you are loved.

Welcome to Still Saturday where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and words. We’d love for you to join us. Get the details above, grab your favorite button, and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to gaze long and drink deep.

I wonder if “Still” counts while I”m running on the trail, listening to worship music?

Your clothesline looks just like mine. I took a photo of it last weekend…before I was engulfed by little boys who call me mimi. =) I’ve trying to decide how to use it….you’ve inspired me.

I don’t think I’m going to get around to posting today. My one brain cell isn’t cooperating…but trust me, I’m as still as I can be today…resting from this wild, rambunctious and loud week of boys.

Have a beautiful weekend, Sandy. You are definitely loved. xox

I read an article the other day responding to the words of a well-known, well-respected leader, and one of the commenters, who found said leader’s approach to be on the rigid and demanding side, said something to the effect of, “_____ needs to back off and read a little Brennan Manning for a while.”

Sometimes, I need a little Brennan Manning. You too, Sandy?

    Thinking about you today. 🙂

    Sandra,
What a nice new place to have landed; I’ll be back. Thanks for hosting…While reading To Show Them Jesus, I found the link and what a blessing. Your pictures quieted me… and your words stirred me. “Because I am loved and I love, I don’t have to worry about my response or lack of it.” I’ve been thinking a good deal about the Father’s love lately, and how we honor it, or fail to.
I look forward to reading more.
Peace and good to you. Now I’m off to read some new blogs…

Praying for rain for that corn. Love your photos, they feel peaceful in their stillness. And thankful that love from my Father is not dependent on my response, so thankful.

    that clothesline is pure art
and touches my heart in the gentle way
    of spirit on skin
and I send you thanks for sharing
    Brennan Manning’s words
that are like an old friend
popping by with fresh warm bread.
    happy sigh:)

I did repot it a few months back just cuz I thought it might need it. A few days ago I noticed it was sprouting a sprout. And today—10 days after having my aortic valve replaced and the day after having a loop recorder inserted—it has UNFURLED!!! A new heart. 🩷

I grew this from a pineapple top. We repotted it again over the weekend. Still no fruit, though. Our neighbor has a baby growing on a small plant, though. What’s up with that?

There was not much to see--except the crane family, some blackbirds, a dove. And it was buggy. And a deer fly bit me on the forearm, and it swelled up, and I still have a 1- x 3-inch reddened area.
