Nearly half a century ago
we vowed to adopt the stance
that we would not add
to the world’s problems,
that zero meant more,
that we’d be free to make
the world a better place.
But then our world turned
upside down when
we were moved to Florida.
We filed to sever the vows,
to cut the cords that bound,
to make one from two.
Cells multiplied, divided,
and then exploded.
They could never grow again.
Our world turned upside down.
When we found our balance,
we vowed to adopt the stance
that we’d go on as two.
But life happens when
you’re making other plans,
and two plus two made four.
Yesterday we celebrated
our youngest grand’s
first birthday.
Today we celebrate
our oldest’s fourteenth.
And the world’s better place.
Happy Birthday to your beautiful granddaughters, Sandra!
Blessings!

We have come north to Jacksonville to celebrate. The big one has come down from Michigan. First time we’ve all been together in over six months. 🙂
