Ode to a Towla Worm
(to the tune of “Our God is a Worm”)
You have done it…
climbed a tree,
attached yourself,
delivered your children,
excreted a scarlet string
to hold them,
sacrificed your life.
It left a crimson stain.
It is finished.

Question for you: Our pastor is preaching a series titled, “Images of God in the Psalms.” We’ve looked at God as a sun and a shield. Yesterday, he unpacked the metaphor of a worm, and I remembered what I’d read about the towla worm. What are some of your favorite images of God in the Psalms?
In the stillness,
Sandy
Martha Orlando says
I like this phrase often repeated in the Psalms: His steadfast love endures forever. Such hope and grace and mercy in these words!
Blessings, Sandy, and thanks for the wonderful imagery today.
Sandra Heska King says
Those are words we could ponder for hours, yes? (And Happy Birthday again, Martha!)
Michele Morin says
From Psalm 121, I love all the images of God being my Keeper, a Shade at my right hand. “The sun shall not smite you by day nor the moon by night.” Beautiful words about protection and sanity.
Sandra Heska King says
Oh wow… He’s a sun AND a shade. How cool is that?
