“As servants of God, we must learn to make room for Him–to give God ‘elbow room.’ We plan and figure and predict that this or that will happen, but forget to make room for God to come in as He chooses . . . Do not look for God to come in a particular way, but do look for Him. The way to make room for Him is to expect Him to come, but not in a certain way. No matter how well we may know God, the great lesson to learn is that He may break in at any minute. We tend to overlook this element of surprise, yet God never works in any other way. Suddenly–God meets our life . . .
“Keep your life so constantly in touch with God that His surprising power can break through at any point. Live in a constant state of expectancy, and leave room for God to come in as He decides.”
~Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

Welcome to the Still Saturday Community where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and reflect on the depth of sparse words. We’d love for you to join us. Grab the button and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to be still together, to gaze long and drink deep.

Yes, living expectantly, that is where I want to be! I wrote about this very thing, expectant waiting, Friday in my private journal. God is telling me something. 🙂

Sandra, my 2015 word is “expectant” and this is so real to me. I do need to remember to leave room for God. Letting go of my lists and needs so that He can come in and guide me, love me in the way He wants me to go.
So thankful I came by for I needed this encouragement.
Caring through Christ, ~ linda

Love this quote: “Do not look for God to come in a particular way, but do look for Him.” Feeling the rest. 🙂 Thanks Sandra.
Sandra Heska King says
And it’s the rest we need it order to see Him when He comes, right? Did you preach this morning? I’m pretty sure your folks saw/see a glimpse of God through you.

That is a powerful thought.. Live expecting Him to come in and let Him have the room to do it! I love it. Sometimes we really just do not make room for Him to do what we ask, do we? It is a faith thing…. Do we believe HE is faithful? If we do, then we really ought to be preparing room for the miracle of His habitation.
You got me thinking!
Blessings,
Dawn

Now you’ve got me thinking! Thanks, Dawn.

So easy to crowd God out. I know I need to be much more intentional and yes, disciplined to not do this. I tend toward random distracted thinking and have to be on my guard against this. Thanks for sharing your words. Blessings, Linda

Hi, Janis. I love that word, “expectancy.” So much better than living in a state of trepidation or fear or… 🙂
