Books

Yes, I did.
I ordered another one today.
I’m filling my basket like a starving shopper in the grocery aisle
where everything tantalizes.
I hope I can eat it all
before it grows stale or moldy.
Taste and see.
Bread of life.

“I cannot live without books.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
Of course, I know there’s really only one Book and one Bread of Life.
And I eat of those, too.
Maybe my friends need to stop writing and recommending others.
Or not.
Oh, today’s order?
Thanks to Glynn Young and Tweetspeak Poetry

There are just SO many books I want to read… titles that tantalize, recommendations from friends, all so worthy of my time. But.
I wrote a post recently about ‘so many books, so little time’. I could spend every moment of every day with my nose in a book and still not get all of them read. My life is enriched by every one that I finish, but it’s also enriched by spending time discovering life beyond the book. I’m so conflicted! How do you do it?
I don’t know how to do it. The reading, the writing, the discovering… I end up grazing more books these days than really savoring. That’s not good, either, I’m afraid.
Look what they’ve done
to my bookshelf,
Mom,
Look what they’ve done
to my shelf,
Mom.
🙂
LOL! They’re bending… bending…
Yeah. After Glynn’s post, I’m seriously tempted on that one. But I still haven’t finished Berry’s “New and Collected Poems” because Laura Brown and I are still going through our April collection! I’m just going to assume I’ll live forever and will have time to read everything. 🙂
Do you suppose there’ll be books in heaven?
Like Megan, after reading the review I went immediately to purchase one. Haven’t yet. Was stopped by thoughts of the the shelfful of books I planned to plow through this summer, but it realistically would take until Christmas………It’s in my shopping cart, though!
It hasn’t come out in soft cover yet… that’s the one I want.
I’m right there with you Sandy. I thought we had built in plenty of bookshelves in this new house, but I’m already searching for places to put the books I simply can’t resist buying. The kindle helps, but I do love holding a book in my hands.
My Kindle is loaded. And I hardly ever read on it. It just doesn’t hold the warmth of a friend.
