Now we will count to twelve
and we will all keep still.
For once on the face of the earth,
let’s not speak in any language;
let’s stop for one second
and not move our arms so much.
~Pablo Neruda in Extravagaria
Sometimes there just are no words.
On Sunday, Mother’s Day, we will count to twelve x2 and keep still in this space. This blog will go silent for 24 hours as we hold vigil with the mothers of almost 300 young Nigerian girls–as well as mothers everywhere who do not know where daughters are. We won’t speak in any language. We’ll stop, link arms–and simply reach out with our hearts.
If you search for this site in your browser, you will find only a brief message and a link that will lead you to an explanation.
Sometimes there just are no words.
In the stillness,
Sandy
Welcome to the Still Saturday Community where we pause after a busy week, move in quiet pilgrimage, maybe linger a while in some still place, and soak in the beauty of images and reflect on the depth of sparse words. We’d love for you to join us. Grab the button and link up below. We all love to hear if something especially speaks to your heart, but please don’t feel pressured to comment. Simply take some time to gaze long and drink deep.
It’s an unimaginable atrocity, and in the stillness of the Sabbath they will be remembered.
I can’t understand the mindset…
There is nothing that grieves a mother’s heart like the thought of our children lost! Praying God surround these mothers and their daughters!
I can’t imagine the not knowing, the wondering…
Powerful and poignant, Sandra. Much to bring stillness to our weekend. My Still Saturday contribution is not my typical one. Have a beautiful Mother’s Day, my sweet friend – as both of us remember our beautiful mothers with much love and gratitude. xox
Yes. Remembering with you, dear friend. xox
Sometimes there are just no words. Amen, Sandy.
Praying that in the silence, someone hears.
Amen . . .
And amen.
Praying. Thanks for hosting & for your compassion for these girls, & God bless.
Thank you, dear Laurie. Bless you.
