Scripture Sunday: On the Line

March 18, 2012 By Sandra Heska King

I pray to God—my life a prayer—
and wait for what he’ll say and do.
My life’s on the line before God,
my Lord,
waiting and watching till morning,
waiting and watching till morning.

~Psalm 130:5-6 (Message)

Beautiful! The photo, the connection. And valuable, the thoughts it stirs. Thank you for this.

      Thanks so much, Sylvia.

Our lives on the line . . . love what you did with that. They really are, aren’t they?

    • Sandra says

      March 18, 2012 at 9:37 pm

Really. Are. And He put His life on the line for us.

  3. Denise says

    March 18, 2012 at 8:30 am

My life a prayer…oh I wish it so!

    • Sandra says

      March 18, 2012 at 9:38 pm

      Me too, Denise. Me, too.

First image that comes to mind, “hung out to dry.” No, a much better thought, cleansed and washed and brightened in the warm, life-giving sun, then carefully folded and placed exactly where He wants me, “my life a prayer.” Beautiful.

      March 18, 2012 at 9:39 pm

It seems like that sometimes, doesn’t it? That we’ve been hung out to dry like these brittle clothespins? I like your much better thought. 🙂

  5. Nancy says

    March 18, 2012 at 11:31 am

For some reason this reminds me of the dried bones and how they are filled with blood and life comes back to them. Weird thinking I guess, but they’re dried out clothespins and they new use every time you use them. Thank you for sharing.

    • Sandra says

      March 18, 2012 at 9:40 pm

Interesting connection, and not weird at all. Sometimes it seems like we get all dried out in the waiting, I think.

  6. Deidra says

    March 18, 2012 at 2:08 pm

Yeah…my life on the line before God. It’s a risky endeavor some days, isn’t it?

    • Sandra says

      March 18, 2012 at 9:40 pm

      Indeed.

  7. Linda says

    March 18, 2012 at 2:46 pm

What an artistic and creative way to illustrate those verses Sandy. He holds our lives in His hands, and we wait.

    • Sandra says

      March 18, 2012 at 9:42 pm

Thanks, Linda. This clothesline and the pins clipped in all kinds of weather over months–years–made me think of all kinds of analogies.

I hadn’t read this verse in the Message translation. Interesting…and a great capture to accompany it!

    • Sandra says

      March 18, 2012 at 9:42 pm

Thanks, Kristen. I love how the Message breathes fresh life.

You always choose photos for verses that are very interesting, to say the least. Your creativity is pretty amazing.

My life is on the line as well. I’m looking for how to choose love in each decision and relationship.

I’m looking to do that, too, Megan.

Those clothespins look as though they are waiting, too. Beautiful perspective!

    • Sandra says

      March 19, 2012 at 10:43 am

They are. And when I finally go out to hang something, I’ll probably use new pins. 😉

You have no idea how timely this verse is for me right now… my grandma is quickly loosing her battle with cancer and right now she and the rest of our family can do nothing but wait until that beautiful morning when Jesus calls her home.

      March 22, 2012 at 2:04 pm

I’m so sorry, Katie. I know that place. Love to you.

A tale of two iguanas... I did not see the iguana A tale of two iguanas... I did not see the iguana in the background until I downloaded the photos. That, I believe, is the one that got caught in one of the openings in the neighbor's chain link fence. We tried in several (safe) ways to dislodge it without luck and could think of no other option but to leave it. Somehow it apparently dislodged itself. We also believe this is the pair that was getting into another neighbor's garden. We haven't seen either one since the last cold snap, so we are wondering if they survived.

Thinking some may have tumbled from their perches last night. Pretty sure it will be raining iguanas tonight since we are under a frost advisory. It's cold. And windy.
