They came back last year.
Full and flowing and bubbling over like the Frio inself.
The High Calling editors.
Their words carved a hole in my soul.
An aching yawn in my heart that longs to be filled with the beauty of a Texas canyon.
To embrace those who have become like family.
Claire, who inspires me to see deeper with a lens.
Jennifer, my cross-eyed sister.
Laura, whose springs well deep and overflow.
Ann, who teaches us to find the holy in every experience.
Glenn, the encourager.
I want to tell my stories like they tell theirs.
And other community members.
To find a way to let my own voice flow from inner springs.
It’s been a busy and eventful year with ups and downs.
And I have this need to to go to Laity Lodge.
Where “in this uncommonly rich setting, creativity, healing, and inspiration flourish.”
A writers’ retreat.
This writers’ retreat.
At the end of this month.
I’ve been counting pennies.
But then came the announcement that one of the editors can’t go this year.
And so they are offering a chance for one High Calling member to attend this conference for free.
Including travel expenses.
What a gift for someone.
I hope it can be me.
Because I have this need to be there.
You might have, too.
If you are a High Calling member, you can try for your own chance.
And I will be excited for whoever wins.
Everyone who enters will receive a 10% discount on tuition.
Do you have a need?
Go here to try.
I have this need . . .
