Thank you, God,
for this orange day
waking saffron
breath of dawn
draped in wonder
glory whispers.
Thank you, God,
for this orange day
splashed with sherbert
shades of joy
citrus-scented
monarch morning.
Thank you, God,
for this orange day
brewed with wisdom
alive with song
wrapped in warmth
mandarin spiced.
Thank you, God,
for this orange day
My (possibly feeble) attempt at a catalog poem for the poetry prompt T.S. Poetry in conjunction with the PhotoPlay color challenge for The High Calling.

Sandra says
🙂 Thanks.

I love this. I don’t know a thing about poetry, but I like the repetition and the simple message.
Thank you, God
That poetry doesn’t have to rhyme
Because nothing rhymes with orange.
Sandra says
Kathy! I just knew you were a poet! 😀
Bradley J. Moore says
I love “Monarch morning..” What a beautiful metaphor! I will be thinking about that as I step out into the orange sunrise.
Sandra says
I was going to capitalize that, but I wanted to see if anyone caught it. You win the prize!
L.L. Barkat says
And me? The saffron. Yes, yes, the saffron. 🙂
Sandra says
So my question is . . . is this a catalog? I was going for the Psalm-like repetition. I deleted a bunch of stanzas and not particularly happy with the last. I wanted to carry the day through to sunset, but sunset came and went and I nodded off.
Carol J. Garvin says
Like your “Quiet Hour” post, these orange blessings are exquisitely described (catalogued?). You’ve captured the sensory aspects as well as the visual ones. Beautifully written, Sandra. Thank you!
Sandra says
Thanks so much, Carol! Now Grace and I are seeing orange everywhere. I never noticed it much before.

And thank you God for my orange Marigolds–they’re delightful today!
Sandra says
Love it! Were they rain dropped this morning?
nance says

Sandra says
Sure thing!

Definitely NOT feeble! I LOVE the first two verses, especially, “splashed with sherbert/ shades of joy/ citrus-scented/ monarch morning.” What a truly delicious description! Ahhhh…love it!
Sandra says
Thank you, friend. I’m not crazy about that third verse and almost left it out along with the other several. Just couldn’t get what I wanted to say to come out the way I wanted it to. LOL!

Others here before me took away the words but I’ll say them again: Not feeble at all.
I especially like your “waking saffron / breath of dawn” and “citrus-scented / monarch morning”. Lovely images.
Kelly Sauer says
My favorite is the spiced mandarin orange… Lovely poem, Sandra!
Anna says
I love this!! So many tasty lines. I love the “citrus-scented/monarch morning” and “mandarin spiced” lines.
