He set aside His rights
clothed self in clay
to show the Father’s love.
No strings attached.
He spat love on clumps of
clay and smeared eyes
once blind that now can see.
No strings attached.
He ladled love on feet
bruised and clay cracked
God knelt to meet our need
No strings attached.
He poured love from body
broken and pierced
parched clay received the blood.
No strings attached.
He stretches out in love
to clay-bound hearts
to free them from themselves.
No strings attached.
We hold this message in
clay pots unadorned
freely given love to share.
No strings attached.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. ~John 15:12 (NIV)

Happy Love Day, Sandra! This is a beautiful love poem you have here. I’m sending love to you this day.
Sandra says
Thanks, friend. So glad to be walking together in His love.

As a guitar player, I’ve found that it’s pretty impossible to play no strings attached.
But God’s love is another story. Because of that love, He can “play my life” with no strings attached because he does the impossible.
Great post!
Sandra says
Thanks, Scott. Love that analogy!

One of my favorite verses is that one about how we’re clay pots, filled up with God’s goodness. Love that you ended up there.
Sandra says
Mine, too. It always comes back to that, right?

Sandy, I love this poem…especially the repeat of the line “no strings attached.” Isn’t that grace — the gift of love with no strings attached?
And thank you friend for linking up with my first-ever community! I’m sorry the links were down for a lot of the day yesterday…word has it the Linky Guy was having server trouble. Hopefully it will all be resolved for next week. Thanks again!
Sandra says
Thanks, Michelle. I never noticed that Mr. Linky had an issue. Can’t wait to check out all the other posts.

I loved all of the poem, but especially all the parts with clay and ‘ladled love’ in this verse…so wonderful…
I came from Laura’s Playdates where I linked about Our Story…just so you know who I am:)
But, just thank you for this!
