I see God
in golden spotlight
of morning stage
with pink and lavender
curtains billowed.
I hear God
in feathered symphony
and leafy whispers
of Spirit breath
within my ear.
I smell God
in golden crisp
of autumn wrapped
with subtle scent
of smoke and damp.
I feel God
in warmth of
sunshine on my cheek
and fluttered wing
within my heart.
I taste God
in Word that drips
with honey sweet
and hint of jasmine
flavored tea.
I sense God
around and in
and over all
in my temple
in the yard.
Linking today with others who see poetically at One Shot Wednesday.

To know God experientially (yada), not just with head-knowledge, but spirit to Spirit, heart to heart, and with all of our senses–I love your poem and pictures!
I asked God once, what David meant when he said, “Your words are sweet to my taste, sweeter than honey…” and He told to get a spoon and our honey jar, and taste and see. So I did, and began a journey of learning of getting know God intimately with my spiritual senses. And I have discovered He is everywhere, and in so many here in blog-land–the Fairest of 10,000!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem. Blessings on your journey!
Sandra says
I love that, Melissa. In fact, I think I need to go have a spoonful of honey right now. Blessings on your journey as well.

Beautiful imagery, Sandy. I liked this the best:

I could smell it too…

There’s just something about fireplace smoke in autumn. Thanks, Jeff.

Sometimes it’s a matter of sitting still and turning the senses on, isn’t it?

There are so many reasons I’ve long loved autumn. You managed to capture so many of them here, in a manner which quickens my soul to the beauty of my Creator in His creation.
