Saturday Snaps: The Beauty of Rose
Stunned to find a rose-breasted grosbeak at the feeder this week. I never saw one before. It’s song is “like that of the robin, only as sung by an opera singer, being mellower and more sweetly melodic.” The missus could use a clothing allowance. What birds have stunned you lately? Beauty is an ecstasy; it is as simple as hunger. There is really nothing to be said about it. It is like the perfume of a rose: you can smell it and that is all. ~W. Somerset...
