Change~In More Than 140 Characters

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another. . . . → Read More: Change~In More Than 140 Characters

R.E.S.T.

Rest.

It’s my mantra these days.

I wish I had learned it better before now.

When the kids were at home.

When I was always trying to do, do, do and be, be, be.

When I was trying to satisfy people and satisfy my own perfectionism.

It’s why . . . → Read More: R.E.S.T.

Chicken House or Shed?

I see it out my penthouse window.

When did my husband paint the whole west side white? I see it every day. I just realized that it’s white.

It looks dumb. I wish it was all gray or all white.

Preferably all gray. The white door is okay.

And the paint job’s pretty sloppy.

No offense, DH.

Weeping and Celebrating

We spend… too little time experiencing the griefs themselves. The result is that these griefs remain hidden and never open us to our joys. ~David Whyte as quoted in God in the Yard.

Branches litter the yard from yesterday’s wind, and leaves block the garage door. A political sign lies in the side yard.

The morning is gray . . . → Read More: Weeping and Celebrating

Sensing God

I see God
in golden spotlight
of morning stage
with pink and lavender
curtains billowed.

I hear God
in feathered symphony
and leafy whispers
of Spirit breath
within my ear.

I smell God
in golden crisp
of autumn wrapped
with subtle scent
of smoke and damp.

I feel God
in warmth of
sunshine on my cheek
and fluttered wing
within my heart.

I taste God

Book Review: @stickyjesus by @tamiheim and @tonibirdsong

“More people will log on to blogs, Facebook, and Twitter this Sunday than will go to church.” ~@stickyJesus

This blog is not quite 3 months old. I’ve had visits from 44 countries and 48 states. (Where are you Vermont and New Hampshire?)

I’m just a pinhead in “the Land of Shiny Things.” I had no illusion that anyone . . . → Read More: Book Review: @stickyjesus by @tamiheim and @tonibirdsong

Reclaimed and Repurposed

It’s been a long week.

And so it’s midnight before I begin to stir chickpea flour into melted ghee, finely chop macadamia nuts and mix with coconut into peaked egg whites, form chocolate truffles and roll in chocolate sprinkles.

While the rest of the house sleeps.

Wash, mix, mold, bake, scrape, taste, lick.

I’m making international desserts to serve at . . . → Read More: Reclaimed and Repurposed

Silence ~ In More Than 140 Characters

We need to find God, and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature–trees, flowers, grass–grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence . . . We need silence to be able to touch souls. . . . → Read More: Silence ~ In More Than 140 Characters

From a Higher Source

Our geriatric kitty has cancer.

We just found out yesterday when the vet called with the results of the biopsy.

It’s in her sinuses and untreatable.

Until yesterday I kept her confined to my office where I could observe what she ate (nothing but a few laps of milk unless I force fed her) and how much she used . . . → Read More: From a Higher Source

Goodnight Moon

Today was one of those days when day runs into night, and you’re still running–and not sure if you’re coming or going.

I spent a lot of the day looking through a windshield. And tonight, for a moment, day and night saluted at the changing of the guard in a pink-edged blue bowl.

The sun set on my . . . → Read More: Goodnight Moon
