Lessons from Basketball Camp

Gracee’s kind of a wimp.

Well, she used to be anyway. The littlest scratch required a magnifying glass and a box of tissues to absorb all the tears.

Drama queen.

So we were all thrilled, as well as more than a little apprehensive, when she agreed to play soccer last fall. And then she actually asked to go to . . . → Read More: Lessons from Basketball Camp

Book Review–Chronological Guide to the Bible

The Chronological Guide to the Bible is a handy little reference tool that attempts to provide an historical arrangement to the Biblical text. It’s designed to help one “follow the flow of events in the Scriptures and see where sacred history and secular history converge into one story of salvation.” To do that, the authors have . . . → Read More: Book Review–Chronological Guide to the Bible

Simplicity in a Shell

This shell dish houses shells (mixed with Claire Burke potpourri) gathered from past trips to the sea. It sits on my dresser and reminds me of times I’ve shed the shell of everyday to seek solitude and simplicity. To stroll a stretch of beach in the early morning and gather treasures in my spirit as well . . . → Read More: Simplicity in a Shell

And a lot of zinnia seeds.

I love zinnias.

The box says, “Easy to grow, just apply and water, germinate in 10 days, height 18-24 inches.”

Framed Memories – Part 3: The End

The storm struck. The barn collapsed.

In one sense, relief reigned.

Nobody hurt.

No more worries about who or what hid in the shadows.

No more energy burned in worry about the future. Like what to do with an old barn that faced inevitable demise in some form since restoration was not a viable option.

Nothing left to do but . . . → Read More: Framed Memories – Part 3: The End

My Head Hurts

My head hurts.

I. Mean. Seriously.

Thought pellets.

My brain must look like cheap siding after a hailstorm. And I can’t get half the ideas out my fingertips or mouth before they melt.

They pound at all times of day and night. Wherever I am. Whatever I’m doing. Or not doing.

I quit my job. To eliminate distractions. To seek tranquility. . . . → Read More: My Head Hurts
